Upgrading the Production Process for Hot-Dip Galvanized Cable Trays

Hot-dip galvanized cable trays, as fundamental components of power transmission systems, are undergoing intelligent innovation in their production processes. Traditional hot-dip galvanizing relies on manual control of zinc bath temperature and immersion time, often resulting in uneven coating thickness (with deviations reaching ±15μm) that compromises corrosion resistance longevity. Today, the industry has adopted intelligent temperature control systems that precisely stabilize zinc bath temperatures within the 460°C ±2°C range. Combined with robotic arm automated conveyance systems, this enables continuous, uniform-speed immersion coating of substrate materials, reducing coating thickness deviation to within ±5μm.
In the critical post-treatment phase, automated passivation lines replace manual spraying. PLC programming precisely controls passivation solution concentration and spray pressure, enhancing passivation film adhesion by 30% and effectively preventing white rust formation. Test data from a production line shows that after upgrading, products' neutral salt spray test endurance increased from 200 hours to 350 hours, meeting basic corrosion protection requirements for industrial facilities.
Simultaneously, the integration of energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies stands out. A waste heat recovery system recovers thermal energy from the exhaust gases of the immersion galvanizing furnace, using it to preheat substrates and zinc ingots. This reduces the average daily energy consumption of a single production line by 15%. A closed zinc dross recovery system increases zinc utilization from 85% to 92%, minimizing resource waste. These technological upgrades not only enhance product quality stability but also propel the traditional galvanizing industry toward green manufacturing transformation, providing reliable cable laying solutions for foundational sectors such as power and construction.
